Wildly Inappropriate. Breaks Down Against Paisti Syndicate's Electronic Warfare
Reported by: Xenlogi MetisIn an interesting octofinal match between Wildly Inappropriate. [WI.] and Paisti Syndicate [PSY] we saw a contest between firepower and electronic warfare and PSY taking the victory.
WI. brought a solid Minmatar 'rush' team, high speed, high damage with three Sleipnirs, three Cyclones for damage, a Scimitar as logistic and two Dramiels and Thrasher for tackling. PSY brought an ECM heavy setup with three Rooks and three Kitsunes as jamming power, two Sleipnirs for damage, a Scimitar for logistic and a Thrasher.
WI. fielded their heavy damage dealing ships in the center of the arena, the remaining ships around the Scimitar at range. PSY fielded their ships to the opposing site except for their two Sleipnirs halfway to the center.
The match began and WI. launched a large swarm of ECM drones against PSY and some logistic drones towards their own ships. Then WI. rushed forward and after a few brief attempts to kill PSY's Kitsunes, they focused their fire onto the Scimitar. PSY in the meanwhile primaried WI.'s Cyclone. Even though WI.'s Scimitar was fitted with strong ECCM, PSY's jamming capabilities were too strong and he was able to apply only few repair cycles to the Cyclone.
This Cyclone then died, followed quickly by WIs's Thrasher. But in the meantime WI. brought their whole firepower onto PSY's Scimitar and even when hindered by some jamming cycles, they blasted the Scimitar down into a smoldering wreck. But it was not enough, PSY slammed hard against WI.'s remaining two Cyclones and quickly put them down.
At this crucial stage the match still hung by a thread, WI. still had three Sleipnirs and a Scimitar, PSY only two Sleipnirs and no logistic ship - but still six jamming ships. The fewer ships WI. had, the worse it got for them, the better PSY ECM worked. WI. went therefore after the Kitsunes and destroyed them, but it took them too long and in the meanwhile PSY had one of WI.'s Sleipnir under heavy fire.
Even though WI. tried to kill PSY's Rooks and had one of them in armor, PSY got enough jam cycles on the WI. team to shut down WI.'s Sleipnirs long enough so that the Rook survived while PSY killed one of WI.'s Sleipnirs.
With two Sleipnirs and three Rooks for PSY against two Sleipnirs and one Scimitar for WI. the match was pretty much decided and PSY had no problems taking the win and proceeded to the quarter finals.
Joe D'Trader from WI. was still satisfied with the Tournament "I'm glad that the first showing of WI made it to the top 16" and that it "was an awesome experience". He continued and promised "Next year WI Pony Dot reloaded will return!"
Shana Tirii from PSY was also happy about the result "We are really excited and probably a bit more relaxed as we have made it already further than last year" and looked forward to their next match against heavyweight HYDRA RELOADED "We don't really have any pressure on us. There is no shame losing to them but there is everything to win."
