Circle-Of-Two surprised everyone by fielding three Freki frigates, last year’s second place prize from Alliance Tournament VII. These ships are valued at an estimated 30 billion each. In addition to the triple Frekis, they also fielded their flagship (a Bhaalgorn), two Abaddons, two Sabres, a Hurricane and a Guardian, bringing their estimated ship total to over 108 billion ISK, the most expensive set up fielded to date. RED.OVERLORD fielded three Machariels, a Bhaalgorn, Guardian and Daredevil.

The match started with the Freki running across the field to tackle and destroy the RED.OVERLORD’s Daredevil. Soon after, RED.OVERLORD lost its first Machariel followed shortly by their Guardian. During the match one of the Freki took enough damage to put it under half structure but Circle-Of-Two’s Guardian pilot managed to begin pulling it back from the brink of destruction. RED.OVERLORD’s Bhaalgorn was next to fall leaving them two ships on the field. The last two Machariels fell in short order as Circle-Of-Two pressed the advantage.

Although Circle-of-Two won the match, they did suffer a single loss; their Bhaalgorn flagship. With their flagship out of the Finals, it remains to be seen how they hold up when teams that have been holding back finally pull out their own flagships.

Circle-Of-Two’s Sidzo had this to say when asked about fielding the Frekis, “Because, it is a very very good ship. Webs at 25km and it is very usable and effective in a fight.”

Sidzo smiled as he added, “And we wanted to show off a little bit.”

When asked about their strategy, Sidzo said, “We have a great deal of respect to RED.OVERLORD, so we entered the field carefully. They can field many different setups. When we saw their setup, we decided to take out their dps first.”

RED.OVERLORD refused to comment on the match.
