Dystopia Alliance Send Morsus Mihi To Sleep With The Fishes
Reported by: Clarity BrownMorsus Mihi's [RAWR] ECM-heavy fleet gave Dystopia Alliance [SINGE] a hard run for their money in the 13th match of Alliance Tournament VIII, but in the end, mobility and damage output were proved decisive by Dystopia's victory.
The first half of the match looked as if things were going to go very strongly in Morsus Mihi's favour. While their jamming strategy was significantly disrupted by Dystopia's heavy use of ECM drones on their electronic warfare vessels and logistics, Morsus Mihi were able to comfortably take down three Ruptures, a Thorax and a Taranis from the Dystopia side, while New Eden's most notorious criminals managed to destroy a Blackbird and two Rooks from the Northern Coalition alliance.
Once the second rook had fallen, however, Dystopia held a great many advantages over the Morsus Mihi team: Their ECM drones were among the RAWR ships, periodically jamming their electronic warfare ships and thus allowing SINGE unrestricted use of their superior DPS; the SINGE vessels were also (according to co-CEO of the Guiding Hand Social Club, Tyrrax Thorrk) equipped with ECCM wherever possible, but most important of all, SINGE had chosen high-damage, close range weaponry and fitted to maximize its damage output - something the Morsus Mihi team badly lacked. Morsus Mihi's Basilisk and three Sabres were swiftly downed while Korinn's Claymore (SINGE) struggled to hold up against a hail of missiles, eventually collapsing under the steady fire.
Meanwhile, NTRabbit had closed on the Mihi Widow in his Vargur and, reaching optimal range and finding the Black Ops Battleship barely capable of movement, simply pimp-slapped it into oblivion. The surviving Dystopia ships set about chasing down the last two RAWR Drakes, killing bloody johnroberts with a wall of rapid projectile fire. Kuntakinte NL was left as RAWR's sole surviving pilot, desperately trying to draw back from the SINGE ships. The Dystopians, however, mysteriously stopped firing.
The mystery vanished when Tyrrax Thorrk explained in local that the team was pausing to loot wrecks, leaving the last enemy alive so they could scavenge modules before the event organizers cleared the battlefield at the end of the match. Kuntakinte, defiant to the last, began to self-destruct his Drake, seeking to deny the Dystopians the loot in his wing-mates' wrecks. Tyrrax Thorrk commented "It made me sad at first, but he was a nice guy and canceled it. Then some idiots on my team killed him before i could finish looting."
