GoonSwarm (OHGOD) secure a hard fought win in a scrappy match against Red.Overlord (R.O.L)’s strategic cruiser filled team.
Before the match started OHGOD positioned their heavy assets squarely at the centre of the arena, these were soon joined by R.O.L’s strategic cruisers. Both sides had their lighter craft (frigates & destroyers) positioned at range, while R.O.L kept their Onerios well out of the pack.
OHGOD opened the battle with all their support frigates/destroyers charging towards their counterparts some distance away. Simultaneously a second slugfest began between the OHGOD battleships, and the R.O.L strategic cruisers.
The OHGOD support made quick work of their targets, destroying both Smoyk and Lady Megera’s Thrashers, with R.O.L only managing to destroy Jingu Hinko’s Catalyst. Back at the slugfest in the centre, OHGOD had managed to take out Calie Nefarious’ Proteus.
R.O.L’s support struggled to gain traction against their foes, as yet another fell before they were finally able to destroy Saul Tigh’s Catalyst. Each of these pockets of combat continued to duke it out, with both sides taking heavy losses until it eventually became clear that OHGOD had gained the upper hand.
The final straw for R.O.L was the loss of their Oneiros, which had been relentlessly pursued by both ships and drones, leaving what remained of R.O.L’s forces in serious trouble. This scrappy match finally concluded with OHGOD holding the field with a Kronos, and Damnation, no R.O.L survived.
Nync, team captain for R.O.L, had this to say about where they went wrong: "kinda weird fit on passively tanked Kronoses, with only 1 armor plate, was expecting active tank from kronoses , so that's why we focused hyperions first."
When asked how he thought the OHGOD team did BobFromMarketing said simply "Our goal was to fail and in that, we failed." And on their strategy: "We miscounted our points unfortunately, we were trying to bring 101 points." On enquiring into their preparations for next week the answer was unfortunately too obscene to print.
