Circle-Of-Two Wins First Match Called for Time In AT7

The third match of the Alliance Tournament, between Circle of Two (Co2) and Legion of xXDEATHXx (X.I.X) saw two very similar medium-ranged Caldari fleets go head-to-head, and ultimately ended in victory for Co2.

In what is quickly proving to be a tournament hinging on electronic warfare and battlecruisers, both teams fielded the maximum of two Rooks, and two battlecruisers. X.I.X's setup leaned slightly more heavily toward long-range "standoff" combat than Co2's, with no logistics ships in their lineup and their Tengu configured for targeting range, afterburner speed, and missile velocity.

As the fight started, both teams held their warp-in position about 50km apart and launched missiles at each other. The teams traded losses fairly quickly in the next few minutes of the firefight, with Co2 losing both its Rooks and its Scimitar and X.I.X losing the bulk of its damage-dealing hulls.

The Rooks, however, were the last of Co2's losses, and it soon became clear that between the ECM drones they were fielding and the fact that their heavy damage ships were still all on the field, they had a considerable advantage. X.I.X's Tengu, which spent most of the match jammed in a cloud of ECM drones, had not made much of an impact in the fight, and while its massive shield buffer took almost five minutes to deplete, the match was Co2's.

In the end, when match time expired, Circle of Two was left with two drakes, a Vulture, and a Nighthawk on the field to Legion of xXDEATHXx's lone Rook.
