Banzai Boyz' Nightmares Save Their Tournament Hopes

Two strategic cruisers fielded by Notoriety [NOTR] could not provide enough staying power as Banzai Boyz [BBZ] dual Nightmares provided sufficient damage to take the win in the second match of Alliance Tournament 7.



An [NOTR] assault frigate piloted by Saibin Gais was the first to fall shortly after the match started as [BBZ] quickly worked to remove the energy draining aspect from [NOTR’s] fleet. The fire seemed well coordinated by BBZ as they completed this objective by removing [NOTR]s two Curses in quick succession.

With the fall of the Sentinel, all that was left on the field for [NOTR] were two strategic cruisers, a command ship, and a frigate to fend off the attacking dual faction battleships, recons, and command ship of [BBZ.]

[NOTR] was not to fall easily, however, as they removed a Scimitar and a Rook in quick succession to counter [BBZ]’s electronic countermeasures threat. The two sides traded losses, [BBZ]Rook for [NOTR]Cruor, as what little momentum seemed to be swinging a bit back towards [NOTR] disappeared.

The three losses would be all that [NOTR] could claim as the focused fire of the [BBZ] team systematically removed the remaining ships from the match. The Proteus was the last ship to fall as even the apparently substantial tank on the new tech-3 class cruiser was not enough to withstand the barrage focused on it.

The use of sentry and ewar drones by [NOTR] could not provide enough distraction to break the well executed plan by [BBZ], who scored an impressive first round win. A great match by both sides, showcasing the staying power of the Proteus and Legion, as [NOTR] was the first alliance to field two strategic cruisers.
