Red.OverLord Defeats SOLAR WING in a Match Dominated by ECM

Match one of the second day of qualifying has been won by Red.OverLord during a seven minute match dominated by the use of electronic countermeasures.



At the beginning of the match, the two fleets occupied the arena's center except for SOLAR WING's rooks who jumped at 50 kilometers from their alliance-mates to leverage their ship's jamming capabilities.

According to Callie Nefarious of Red.OverLord, SOLAR WING's fleet was likely nano fitted and warping to the arena's center was their first mistake: "we had four marauders with a massive boost to [stasis webifier's] power... they died pretty quickly," she said.

DENWIR of SOLAR WINGS, admits its fleet was too close to the marauders. However, he adds they had to replace one pilot before the fight and that further complicated their match. "The spare ship happened to be [fitted with] officer's equipment," he explained, adding that they lost all devices in that ishkur's low slots as a result and also suffered a penalty on a rook that failed to warp to the correct point.

While SOLAR WING's rooks were incapacitated by ECM drones, Red.OverLord's cormorants acted as dampeners: "[their] role was to delay lock from jamming ships... overloaded ECCM works good," said Callie Nefarious, adding that the combined force of the marauders' firepower and ECMs allowed them to win the match.

Finally, DENWIR commented on SOLAR WING's next qualifying match: "I hope we can get ready enough to win," he said.
