The Wrong Alliance Steals Victory During Final Moments Of The Match

Reported by: Tosakan Lanka

The Wrong Alliance defeated HUN Reloaded in a points battle called for time.

Both teams positioned themselves in tight clusters, with approximately 50 kilometers in between both groups. RAX deployed a group of the Ogre II drones as the game started, and they were able to kill an ERROR Thrasher during the first moments of the match.

Heavy fighting continued in the center of the arena as both teams utilized close range vessels. Capsuleer Beast Hun of RAX was the second victim of the duel as his Guardian got shredded by the overwhelming damage of ERROR’s battlecruisers.

The rapid damage distribution continued as ERROR lost both of their Brutix-class battlecruisers, one Hurricane and an Ishkur, while killing two Ishtars and one Ishkur of the opposing side. The Legion pilot of RAX lost control over his vessel a bit later, but his team was able to strike back by killing a Hurricane and the remaining ERROR Ishkur. Both teams now had just three ships left in the arena, but the match was far from over.

RAX still had two Dominix-class battleships and a Stilleto against two Drakes and a Nighthawk left for ERROR. The match remained at a stalemate for several minutes.

The RAX Dominix eventually went down, but his team retaliated by killing one of the two enemy Drakes remaining. With time rapidly running out, ERROR's tournament hopes were pinned on their remaining Drake. The Drake survived the match with just a fraction of his hull hit points left, giving ERROR the points lead and a slot in the next round of the tournament.

"Our stategy relied on heavy drone damage and a bait Guardian"… Letum Omnis of RAX explained after the match. "We expected a Caldari setup, so we fitted our cruiser sized ships with afterburners [which] is the reason why they went down so quickly; our cruiser sized ships didn’t spread out in time."

Conwen of ERROR thinks that his team made a lot of mistakes. "It was a very hard game [for us]. The turning point for us was when CCP Claw said STOP in local chat. We really weren’t sure if we could win until the very end."
